  • Bread, Olive Oil and Butter @ Peter Doyle @ The Quay
    Spotted April 15, 2012
And bread. But the bread wasn't as pretty as the olive and butter. Who would've thought Olive oil and butter could be so pretty!

  • Garlic Bread @ La Fornaia
    Spotted March 14, 2012
I can't believe how close this beautiful place is! It's interior takes you back in time... So the garlic bread. More like Garlic Loaf! It was massive. A whole entire bread loaf cut in half and filled with goodness. Did you know: It is typically made using a baguette which is partially sliced downwards, allowing the condiments to soak into the loaf while keeping it in one piece. The bread is then stuffed through the cuts with oil and minced garlic before baking. Garlic bread has appeared on U.S. restaurant menus since at least 1947. 40's baby!

Lovely! Larger than expected. So this place used to be an Australia post. The interior, the pictures on the wall makes the place all the more special. The ceilings are high and filled with interesting things to look at! Next time I'll be back for a hearty meal!

  • Fruit & Nut Bread with Ricotta and Figs @ Circa Espresso
    Spotted February 12, 2012
Did you know: The edible fig is one of the first plants that was cultivated by humans. Nine subfossil figs of a parthenocarpic type dating to about 9400–9200 BC were found in the early Neolithic village Gilgal I (in the Jordan Valley, 13 km north of Jericho). The find predates the domestication of wheat, barley, and legumes, and may thus be the first known instance of agriculture.

  • Corn Bread @ El Capo
    Spotted January 09, 2012
Corn bread with house made cumin butter. Native Americans were using ground corn (maize) for food thousands of years before European explorers arrived in the New World. European settlers, especially those who resided in the southern English colonies, learned from natives—"Indians" such as Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Creek—the original recipes and processes for corn dishes, and soon they devised recipes for using cornmeal in breads similar to those made of grains available in Europe.

Streetband released the novelty song "Toast" in the late 1970s - The band attempted to use toast as an instrument, with the sound of toast being scraped used later in the track
