Spotted January 07, 2012My favorite item here -- the buns are giant and bursting at the seams with steamy filling. It does have a bit of a chickeny taste but all together you don't notice. And for 4 for $3 or so, what more could you want? -
Spotted September 09, 2011A Tibetan steamed Dumpling filled with curried eggplant and other delicious vegetables. The texture was a little more buttery than steamed buns I've had in the past. The flavors were amazing.-
Alexa Andrzejewski Filled with curried crimson eggplant, walla walla onion, red curry, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, yellow curry and currants.
Alexa Andrzejewski (This might have been the best filling!)

Spotted January 29, 2010Very good, but I don't think they're any more out of this world than Ippudo or Heaven's Dog in SF's pork buns. -

Spotted December 22, 2009This place takes pride in their balls! Get your "Got Balls" t-shirt here too. Tasty, chewy, buttery bread filled with pepperoni.-
Samuel Moehring These look really different from the pepperoni rolls we get down here, but nonetheless great.

peter Hmmm...I should go there for lunch. It's so close to my office.
V I was just inside the SOMA Grand and passed by and realized that Heaven's Dog was right there! And had I realized that it was still open, I totally would have dropped by for a taste, but alas, my reaction time wasn't fast enough. It's funny that you posted this right after I missed that opportunity.
Alexa Andrzejewski You'll have to make it back (maybe I'll run into you there) -- I am still craving those pork buns!

Spotted November 16, 2009These were good, but not incredible... anonymous food loving guest said "There's something oddly Fast Food tasting about them." But I think it's just the Mayo, which I did like! -

Spotted November 07, 2009These are tender, soft, lightly sweet, delicious and PURPLE! What more could you want? And to top that, they were on sale for $2.50 for 6 (frozen buns) at Ranch 99!-

Lisa Chan My favorite buns! The red bean ones are good, too! :)

Spotted August 02, 2009I would drive down to the South Bay just to get these pork buns. One of my favorite cheap eats in the Bay Area, they're chewy on the outside, soupy on the inside and flavorful all around. There's really nothing like it!
-
Alexa Andrzejewski Absolutely! I always go out of my way to get over to Shanghai Flavor Shop when I'm down south!
Gary Chou ok i will check this out as well
Gary Chou oh wait i introduced this to you!!
Alexa Andrzejewski You sure did! I should have given you credit!

Spotted September 30, 2009I am not usually a croissant dough person, but these are amazing. The citrus glaze makes the top sticky and chewy. Eating these on the top of Dolores Park is an experience not to miss!-
