Spotted January 07, 2012Sam says she's been waiting 2 years (since she was last in SF) to try these giant fluffy pork buns! -
Spotted November 10, 2011Saw @haparamen at @foodzie tonight and enjoyed this glutinous rice with sea kelp and yellowtail dashi; wonderfully thick, delicious broth.-

Spotted May 08, 2011Sharing my favorite soup dumplings in the world with @sethland & @amyblogschow. (I ate these 464 days ago! But here's a better photo of)-

nomnomboris wow you counted how many days ago you ate it?
Alexa Andrzejewski Haha, no! The Foodspotting app told me so. :-)
nomnomboris hahahaha good :)
nomnomboris cause if you did counted, that might be a bit too weird LOL

Spotted April 15, 2011Also amazing! Tiny pork bun, fried til crispy! Lucky this bakery is near our station. (It's a chain so you can find this elsewhere I'm sure!) -
Spotted April 07, 2011I forgot how amazing these are! Nothing like the typical custard tart. #Buttery, flaky, light pastry with delicate, creamy custard. Definitely #eggy, but SUCH a good combo!-
Noms the Word, John Valenton said Great Shot!
suzyQ mmm...best in the city!
Jennifer Garcia-Alonso I love egg tarts!
John Valenton Ohhhhhh so lucky!

Spotted February 02, 2010Good... But the ones you can get 3 for $1 in Chinatown are just as good!-
MAC I love this. We call it "buchi".

Spotted January 29, 2010Very good, but I don't think they're any more out of this world than Ippudo or Heaven's Dog in SF's pork buns. -
-
Spotted January 29, 2010These. Were. PERFECT! These are the XLB that I've been searching for since Vancouver! I haven't tried their rival, Joe's, but these were all I want in a soup dumpling, and SO much better than ANYTHING in San Francisco. Huge, thick skin, lots of soup, delicious meat -- plus you can watch them making them in the kitchen! Flushing is amazing too: Worth the trip!-
Alexa Andrzejewski These are truly the best XLB! I just had Joe's, and these were much much better! Now how to convince the team to go to Flushing?!

Spotted December 24, 2009So good and glad they had these! But not as good as Shanghai Flavor Shop. A little mushy. -

peter Hmmm...I should go there for lunch. It's so close to my office.
V I was just inside the SOMA Grand and passed by and realized that Heaven's Dog was right there! And had I realized that it was still open, I totally would have dropped by for a taste, but alas, my reaction time wasn't fast enough. It's funny that you posted this right after I missed that opportunity.
Alexa Andrzejewski You'll have to make it back (maybe I'll run into you there) -- I am still craving those pork buns!

Spotted December 12, 2009I have been VERY disappointed by past custard buns, where the filling is hardened like a hard-boiled egg yolk, but these were PERFECT! The filling was the perfect texture, creamy and good. Thank you, Koi Palace, for restoring my belief that custard buns are the most delicious dessert dim sum ever!

Bruce I've been disappointed ordering Xiao Long Bao in so many places that I rarely order it any more outside of a few select places (Din Tai Fung in Tokyo is a favorite). It seems that many places have no soup in their Xiao Long Bao which misses the whole point of the dish.
Alexa Andrzejewski Yeah -- these ones weren't particularly soupy. If you like pan-fried pork buns, however, Shanghai Flavor Shop in the South Bay is amazing!
Michael This is my favorite place to get xiao long bao

Spotted December 05, 2009Sticky rice filled with Shitake and Taro and wrapped in a lotus leaf. One of my favorite handheld snacks! -
-
Spotted November 23, 2009I've tried a lot of XLB, including the "best" in San Francisco, but nothing has compared to these! The skin was the perfect thickness and texture. I haven't found anything like it!-
Randy F. Looks amazing! I never had a chance to have great xiao long bao in Vancouver (was too busy eating all the other food). Will have to try this place! My favorite xiao long bao places are still Ding Tai Fung and Joe's Shanghai.....the photos are too blurry to post to Foodspotting! BTW I'm having a lot of fun with your site!
Alexa Andrzejewski I'm glad you're having fun because you're spotting all the things I *love* -- prime rib, steak, noodles, ramen... who could ask for more? We'll have to do an eat-up sometime. ^_^ Don't forget to "Nom" the ones you like best!

Spotted November 16, 2009These were good, but not incredible... anonymous food loving guest said "There's something oddly Fast Food tasting about them." But I think it's just the Mayo, which I did like! -

Spotted November 08, 2009These were actually pretty good! They weren't mushy at all, the tops were a little chewy, and the flavor was good. Medium dishes are only $3-4, so it was a pretty good deal too. -
-
Spotted November 07, 2009This was rather dry... inside and out. Would not nom, but wanted to show it in case you were expecting creamy custard inside...-

Schneidermike It's exactly as it should be. In fact, it's one of the best nai huang bao I've had. Nom it! :)

Spotted November 07, 2009Good if you can restrain yourself and order only one or two dishes, but at $8-10 for most of the main entrees, it gets pricey fast, and I don't think it's THAT much better than the cheap dim sum you can get in Chinatown, and it pales in comparison to Vancouver dim sum -
-
Spotted September 28, 2009Why didn't I get one of these??? I bet these were better than the kind of dry custard bun that I got... -

Arnel Looks very delicious!

Spotted August 07, 2009Another amazingly flavorful dish from Aziza. Sadly, I can't remember the details.

Spotted October 01, 2009These are good, but I honestly like the 3 for $1 ones you can get in Chinatown just as much. -
-
Spotted August 02, 2009I would drive down to the South Bay just to get these pork buns. One of my favorite cheap eats in the Bay Area, they're chewy on the outside, soupy on the inside and flavorful all around. There's really nothing like it!
-
Alexa Andrzejewski Absolutely! I always go out of my way to get over to Shanghai Flavor Shop when I'm down south!
Gary Chou ok i will check this out as well
Gary Chou oh wait i introduced this to you!!
Alexa Andrzejewski You sure did! I should have given you credit!

Spotted September 30, 2009There are a LOT of Dim Sum bakeries in Chinatown, so it's hard to know what's good, but this Dim Sum is pretty amazing! It's huge, warm, chewy... and everything here cost under $2.-

touchan Hi, Alex. Hope all is going well with you!! This is what's happening. Your spot is in the wrong GUIDE http://www.foodspotting.com/guides/24. I guess this is now what you meant becuase when I created the GUIDE(http://www.foodspotting.com/guides/139) this spot came in. Since I created it, I could delete your spot. Not sure what's happening, but I think you should see your program. Enjoy Omaha!! Thx.
