• It's here! Be the first to add Foodspotting to your Facebook Timeline

What could be better than Chocolate Covered Key Lime Pie on a Stick? Sharing great finds like these with your friends! We believe that food is meant to be shared, and our new app for Facebook Timeline makes it easier than ever to spread the word about great dishes.

You've always been able to share dishes you spot on Facebook. Now, when you Want, Try or Love (Nom) a dish on Foodspotting, these actions will appear on Facebook too.

    ADD FOODSPOTTING TO TIMELINE

By connecting or reconnecting Facebook to Foodspotting, you can include Foodspotting activity on your Facebook Timeline:

    CONTAIN YOURSELF

You can control who sees this activity, which is neatly contained in this little box and won't take over your Timeline:

    SHOW OFF YOUR EXPERTISE

Your friends can always visit your Foodspotting app page to see all of your food finds in this nifty Timeline format, including the dishes you've become an expert in:

    GET STARTED

    1. Starting today, when you connect Facebook to Foodspotting or log in using Facebook, you'll be prompted to include Foodspotting activity on your Facebook Timeline. Simply sign out and sign back in using Facebook to see it.

    2. You can control who sees this activity from the start (choose "Just Me" if you want to keep your food finds to yourself). You can always change your preferences or turn off the activity from your Foodspotting Settings page or Facebook's Application Settings page. You can also still post individual photos by choosing "Share on Facebook," which shares them the traditional, more prominent way.

    3. Now, whenever you Want, Try or Love something on Foodspotting, these actions will appear in the Foodspotting box on your Facebook Timeline. You can click the box title to view your full Foodspotting Timeline page and revisit tasty food memories.

Sharing food finds is as easy as clicking the "Like" button but much more expressive! We've been playing around with the Timeline app as a team for several weeks and are really enjoying how it's helped us discover new and interesting dishes from each other. We'd love to hear your feedback, please share them directly with us by emailing team[at]foodspotting.com.

I've disconnected and then reconnected yet my Fadebook Timeline just says get started next to Foodspotting and when I click it, it takes me to Foodspotting.com. Why?
Right now it only shows new things you do -- so I think you need to Want a few things on Facebook before it starts to appear on your Timeline.

Thanks for the reply. I just 'wanted' a few things on Foodspotting though nothing has changed. Still not appearing on the Timeline.

nothing for me in the timeline either

Not at all pleased. Why not allow us the option to continue to selectively post items to FB as before? This new setting is perfect for occasional users of FS (or ones who enjoy assaulting their "friends" with constant food posts) but certainly isn't appropriate for anyone I know that would like to curate what (if anything) goes to each network.

Is there any way to choose only to add "Nom" dishes to the Timeline?
Have no fear! We still allow that option. Just go to your Settings page and uncheck "Include Foodspotting activity on Facebook" and then your photos will only be shared when you choose "Share on Facebook." Your friends won't be assaulted in any case, the activity just shows up in the ticker and other lightweight places.

Randy - we could maybe add more granular options in the future too!

Alexa: thanks for posting this reply on one of my sightings so I'd see it. I went to reenable FB and it says the app will show dishes of which I have become an expert "and other activity." That's not how it worked before. I'd like to selectively post photos here on an individual basis, but I'm not interested in posting anything else. Hopefully the options will change. Thanks.

Carl - The options you want are all there, they are just on our end, not Facebook's end. Go ahead and reconnect Facebook then go to http://www.foodspotting.com/settings and uncheck "Include Foodspotting activity in my Facebook Timeline." If you do that, only photos you choose to share will be shared as usual. We did our best to give people choices, we just don't have a lot of control over the Facebook dialog.

Thanks for the clarification! I found that with Pinterest, for example, that it shows every person I follow in the Timeline box. Since lots of folks are joining that site daily, my box activity is all refollows, and it's not at all what I'd expected. People are bombarded with activity updates from these new Timeline apps, and clearly (like with Pinterest) much of it really is just noise. Thanks for offering an option for a quieter Foodspotting experience! :)

how can I make the "foodspotting" box in fb to be as big as the picture above? Because my actions in foodspotting are shown on my timeline as a short and small box on the end of every month..I want instructions please :D

Delicious food to them. Great thing for readers who find such instances to have things like blogs nYou are placed on you. Thanks for your blogs

So, it seems this works exactly as I'd expected, which is not at all what I'd want. I'd disabled Foodspotting posting to Timeline after images I did NOT want to post there posted. Then you said it had been fixed, but I forgot to reenable it. I then learned that when I opt to post photos to FB, they show up as regular photos, no longer associated with a Place (as had been the case in the past) but just look totally random as if I'd just done mobile uploads. Clearly this doesn't work well in the world of Timeline. So I REenabled Timeline in Foodspotting and discovered that it does exactly what I'd thought: it posts EVERYTHING even though I clearly have the FB toggle off on individual posts. So, will this ever work properly?

I don't like the way photos currently post to facebook. Now they just show up in my Foodspotting Photos album with no caption whatsoever. I prefer the old system where it posted my caption, followed by the name of the dish and the location.

tried all tips for getting Foodspotting to work on Facebook. Want and Tried still display and post, but any of the dishes I spot don't show up in timeline or map. And you have a lot of people spamming this blog post.
