Classic Lobster Roll at Mary's Fish Camp in New York, NY

Price point aside (north of $30), this roll is massive and routinely referred to as one of the best in NYC. Always followed by 'limited supply' on the menu; the Red Snapper Tacos are a good back-up.

Lobster Sandwich at Oceana Restaurant in New York, NY

Ben Pollinger, chef at Midtown's Oceana, will open the Homarus Lobster Roll stand at various street fairs and markets this summer. If you prefer to take your lobster in an air-conditioned room, order it here. Comes with bacon, avocado, tarragon, and is served on pain au lait.

  • Classic Lobster Roll at Lure Fish Bar in New York, NY

Better known for its "Burger Bash" burger, their brioche lobsta roll is also worth getting. Comes with slaw and salt & vinegar chips.

lobster roll at Red Hook Lobster Pound in Brooklyn, NY

Excellent, lobster-heavy, very-light-on-the-mayo rolls direct from Maine (they even get their top-split buns from ME). Mayonnaise-haters should get the Connecticut roll which substitutes mayo with butter.

Ditch Plains Lobster Roll at ditch plains in New York, NY

After nearly filling up on the bagel chips and crab dip get Marc Murphy's no frills lobster roll, served with sweet potato chips. Leave room for dessert. The last time we were there and asked for whipped cream they brought us the entire can.

lobster roll at John Dory Oyster Bar in New York, NY

The newest roll on the list. Don't let its rookie status dissuade you from ordering. Should your dining partner be punishing themselves for bikini season there's also the no-carb cold poached lobster with tomalley vinaigrette.

  • Mermaid Lobster Slider at Mermaid Inn in New York, NY

Definitely more of a lobster sandwich. That's not to say it's any less delicious than it's roll-ified counterparts. Comes on a brioche bun with lobster salad on the side. Wash it down with a Chilly Margaret, a citrusy tequila-based cocktail with jalapeno sugar.

Lobster Roll (Sandwich) at Luke's Lobster in New York, NY

This Maine-style roll is a bargain, if a bit on the skimpy side. Or, order the 'Taste Of Maine' which consists of a half lobster roll, half crab roll & half shrimp roll, a Maine root soda, a pair of empress crab claws and Miss Vickie's chips.

Lobster Roll with shoestring fries at Pearl Oyster Bar in New York, NY

Owner Rebecca Charles doesn't fuss with the lobster roll formula and keeps things simple—hot dog bun, lobster, celery, lemon, salt and pepper, and mayo.
