945 Broadway San Diego, CA
Used to be you had to rent a car and drive to Ocean Beach for the best burger in San Diego. But no more!! Hodad's has opened a downtown location within walking distance of the convention center! Sure to have some of the longest lines outside the con this weekend, but definitely worth the wait! - C.B. Cebulski
170 6th Avenue San Diego, CA
A new SDCC "classic"! Since opening up RIGHT IN FRONT OF the con center a few years back, the Tin Fish has become THE place to grab a quick bite during the show. But also one of THE BEST bites in town! Who would have thought you could get reasonably priced, wonderful food that close to the con?! A a nice local beer selection to boot! - C.B. Cebulski
947 E Street San Diego, CA
If you're looking for some great Mexican, especially if you're a vegetarian, then you have to hit Pokez for some of the best Mexican I've ever had. - Ron Richards
643 5th Avenue San Diego, CA
Best way to cap a dinner is with a classic sundae from Ghirardelli. The line can be deceiving as it moves faster than you'd think - definitely worth waiting for! - Ron Richards

Need a break? Have a sweet tooth? Grab a cupcake from Heavenly Cupcake and know what it is to taste heaven - Ron Richards
5010 Newport Ave San Diego, CA
My annual trip to burger Mecca. Sure, I'm psyched to have Hodad's downtown, but the original Ocean Beach location is the way to go for me. The Double Bacon Cheeseburger with a milkshake is the only way to go. - Ron Richards
558 4th Avenue San Diego, CA
My own personal find in San Diego, I could eat these corn fritas forever. Beyond these, Las Hadas is a guaranteed good meal at a good price and a little away from the con madness - Ron Richards
340 Fifth Avenue San Diego, CA
I love the end the con with a good steak, and the grill your steak gimmick here is always fun. The decor is the 50s pinup girl style, which is always fun. But for me, the real winner is the side dish of Creamed Spinach with an amazing parmesan cheese topping to it that makes it magical - Ron Richards
400 J St San Diego, CA
It's a nationwide chain, but still serves up some great seafood. Their simple grilled fish is tasty and reliable and as someone who lived in Maryland for over a decade I always appreciate a good crabcake. - Filip Sablik
660 K Street San Diego, CA
Sure, it's in a hotel, but Soleil @K is actually a solid choice for dinner in the Gaslamp. Their flatbreads are filling and tasty and sitting on the outside patio makes for some fun people watching during Comic-Con. - Filip Sablik
721 9th Avenue San Diego, CA
Cafe Chloe is my personal hidden gem pick in the Gaslamp District. It's a French bistro meets California cuisine with farm fresh seasonal ingredients. The menu changes frequently, but with a great wine list and local ingredients you really can't go wrong. Their version of the humble mac and cheese is rich and elevated. - Filip Sablik
2470 San Diego Ave San Diego, CA
Always one of my first stops in San Diego, for Taco Tuesdays with discounted tacos and margaritas. The cheeseburger taco is exactly what it sounds like - a taco with a cheeseburger and fries in it. If it's wrong, I don't wanna be a right. - Filip Sablik
222 Island Avenue San Diego, CA
Cafe 222 is a Comic-Con breakfast institution. It's not a large place so get there early and be prepared to be patient with the harried wait staff. It's best known for it's Peanut Butter & Banana Stuffed French Toast, which I'm convinced Elvis would have loved. And it has bananas in it, so it must be healthy, right? If you prefer savory over sweet at breakfast, Cafe 222 serves rock solid breakfast standards like the "The Two Plus Two +2" - 2 pieces of bacon or sausage, 2 eggs, and 2 pancakes. - Filip Sablik

This mobile food gem serves up Mexican/Korean fusion and still ranks as the best food truck in San Diego. They are slated to be popping up downtown during the con. You’ll have to follow @tabebbq on twitter to find their exact location day by day. Cross your fingers it will be near your immediate vicinity and pray your berserker dash to the truck isn’t too far. - Joshua Sheehan
770 5th Avenue San Diego, CA
Love Cupcakes? Love Beer? Want the best Beer Cupcake in SD? Drop into the Tipsy Crow and tell them you have a hankering for a “Pubcake”. They sell out quick, so maybe even call ahead. The cupcakes work beautifully, and are insanely good. If you can’t get one from Tipsy Crow and have a car, Pubcakes has a location in La Mesa. - Joshua Sheehan
202 Park Boulevard San Diego, CA
New York has its Pizzeria’s, Philly its Cheesesteaks, and San Diego wouldn’t be San Diego without its taco shops. Luckily for con go’ers, one of its finest just opened a new location across from Petco Park. If you like burritos the size of your neck, and carne asada draped onto anything you desire, drop by this place. Perfect for a burrito grab and go on your way to the convention center. - Joshua Sheehan
421 Market Street San Diego, CA
This place is, well, funky. And fun. Want a TJ dog or a delicious cup of Elote en Vaso without being caught in the cross fire of Tijuana Assassins? Then come to this late night eating party. Cheap eats, that don’t taste all that cheap. - Joshua Sheehan
751 5th Ave. San Diego, CA
Before Gaslamp nightclub Voyeur fires up the lights and rattles your brain with bass, it operates as quant small plate restaurant Revolver. Serving locally sourced farm fresh foods, Revolver is the perfect way to snack before heading out to your next late night con booze fest. For an added plus, the bartender will be genuinely excited about making you an Old Fashioned, and he will do it with care. Oh and the Poke here might just be the best there is in SD. - Joshua Sheehan
3786 Ingraham Street San Diego, CA
Best Burger in the San Diego. There I said it. Sadly for con goers, Rocky’s is located miles away in between Mission and Pacific beach. Rocky’s does only three things, Burgers, Fries, and Beer. They’ve perfected them all. This is a fairly narrow bar, so kiddies are not allowed inside, but they will serve you a delicious Cheeseburger in a greasy white bag to go. If you’re heading to the beach for a little con getaway, make a pit stop. You’ll be happy. Bring cash. No traceable checks or credit cards accepted here. - Joshua Sheehan
544 5th Ave San Diego, Ca
Visit Ireland while in SD! This is literally an Irish pub that was dismantled, shipped piece by piece, and reassembled in San Diego. Boxty, Shepard Pie, Potato Leek Soup, and Guinness Beef Stew, all the staples are here. - Joshua Sheehan
777 G Street San Diego, CA
BERKSHIRE DOG / BRAISED PORK / FRIED EGG / MUSTARD + MOLASSES GLAZE / GRUYERE / ARUGULA I shall say no more. - Joshua Sheehan

If red meat is not your thing, pop over to the Oceanaire. Dozens of Oyster varieties, cracked open and dropped down your mouth at their fresh oyster bar. They also have a crab cake that will make you see Poseidon and call out to him. - Joshua Sheehan
939 4th Avenue San Diego, CA
Death by Meat. All you can eat Churrasco Brazilian Barbeque. The concept is simple. Your table possesses a magic centerpiece. Red means no, green means go. Flip it to green and dancing Brazilian men will bring a punishing onslaught of quality tasty fire roasted meat that would make John Wayne weep. Tri Tip, Garlic Sirloin, Filet wrapped in bacon, Chicken and cheese, Pork ribs, Sausage, Turkey wrapped in bacon, and on and on and on. Dinner is pricey, but the slightly scaled down lunch special is a smoking deal. I have been carried out of this place before and plan on being carried out again. Yes, there is a robust salad bar for your Vegetarian friends, but take note, they won’t be able to stomach the imagery of you consuming an entire slaughterhouse. - Joshua Sheehan
640 Tenth Ave. San Diego, CA
Upscale steakhouse without the upscale attitude. In other words, leave the jacket at home. Cuts are aged in house and cooked with care. Prices of steaks include the sides, which can’t be said of the other Prime houses around town. Also, in the event you prefer to impress your lady friends and such, and your rental has a kitchen, or if you can eat raw meat on the go as a snack, Cowboy Star has an on site butcher shop. Take your cuts to go. - Joshua Sheehan
101 G Street San Diego, CA
Yes, I'm recommending a large-chain grocery store, but I'm doing this for a reason. If you're going to be stuck behind a both or table on the con floor all day, do yourself a favor and get to Ralph's before you hit the con. That have nice pre-made sandwiches, chips and every drink, alcoholic or non, that you could possibly want. Stock up here as it is better and cheaper than the crap you will get at the show! - C.B. Cebulski
467 5th Ave San Diego, CA
A San Diego institution. Been going here ever since I started going to SDCC in 1996. Fun, lively and spicy, just like their food. Never had a bad meal. - C.B. Cebulski
222 Island Avenue San Diego, CA
In the immortal words of Stan Lee... "'Nuff said" - C.B. Cebulski
558 4th Avenue San Diego, CA
A great snack a few blocks walk from the con. A little off the beaten path, but a great place for meetings with small plates. And a great happy hour! - C.B. Cebulski
224 5th Avenue San Diego, CA
In the Hilton right across the street from the con. One of the best steaks in the city, IMO, and that's coming from an New Yorker! Great menu, fine wine list and a nice outdoor patio if you can get a table. - C.B. Cebulski
310 5th Ave. San Diego, CA
Don't be fooled by the cheesy, surfer vibe of this joint. It is the one place I make it a point to stop at every year for one reason... these fresh seafood tacos! They recently started offering a set Comic Con menu, but if you ask, they will make you these of the regular menu. I usually get two lobster tail and one shrimp, with avocado and their special sauce. - C.B. Cebulski
560 5th Avenue San Diego, CA
The best burger you used to be able to get close to the con center until recently. (Until Hodad's moved in.) But still a great place to sit down and relax with a long selection of original burgers (One topped with pastrami!!) and a full bar and cool drink list - C.B. Cebulski
333 West Harbor Drive San Diego, CA
Hawaiian fusion surf and turf... tender, lightly seared wagyu beef wrapped around delicate snow crab. Far from traditional, as good as it gets. - C.B. Cebulski
3750 Sports Arena Boulevard San Diego, CA
A San Diego classic! One of the original San Diego Con eating destinations. Be prepared to wait in line. But they also do take out. - C.B. Cebulski
207 5th Ave San Diego, CA
If you don't mind spending a little cash, and can get a reservation, Nobu in the Hard Rock Hotel is well worth the price! One of the most noted high-end Japanese restaurant "chains" in the country, Nobu will not disappoint. They'll be offering a special lunch menu during Comic Con too. - C.B. Cebulski
