One of my favorites. A real crowd pleaser and perfect party platter cheese.

Red Hawk @ Cowgirl Creamery Artisan Cheese Shop

1 Ferry Building San Francisco, CA

Created by accident when a failed cheese was left and forgotten, this washed rind red is compared by some to Époisses. I think of it as just a high-end stinky cheese we can get in our back yard.

Point Reyes Original Blue @ Draeger's Supermarket

222 East 4th Avenue San Mateo, CA

True blue, tart, salty and just plain tasty. Melt this on your burger for some serious flavor lift. Made in Pt. Reyes of course.

    Andante Trio @ Quince Restaurant

470 Pacific Ave San Francisco, CA

Combination of goat and cow milk cheese with creme-fraiche. Nice cheese! Corey at the bar at Quince calls this one a “gateway cheese.” I never would have spent $15 on a cheese before I had this. Creamy and fresh but with an assertive edge. Made in Peteluma.

Truffle Tremor @ Whole Foods SoMa

399 4th Street San Francisco, CA

Made by Cypress Grove. In its original incantation this premium goat cheese had a thick layer of truffle running through the center of the wheel. Now the truffle bits are infused throughout the cheese. The rich truffle flavor remains, though a bit diminished in my memory. Another of my favorites.
