Hey Foodspotters on the ground at Outside Lands this weekend, we have a chance for you to win two tickets to next year’s Outside Lands 2012 now.
As you roam the amplified version of concession stand heaven that is A Taste of the Bay Area and Wine Lands this weekend, snap a photo of your favorite Outside Lands bite and/or sip with a brief caption of what it is and why it stood out to you. You will then be automatically entered into a lottery for the chance to win two 3-day passes to next year’s festival.
Picture(s) can be of any item found at Outside Lands’ A Taste of the Bay Area or Wine Lands: a cucumber melon spritzer, a pinot noir on tap, or a gourmet cupcake, a Baja Shrimp Ceviche...you name it.
* The lottery will be chosen by random and the winner will be notified via email by September 15, 2011. Tickets for 2012 are non-transferable and re-sale is not prohibited. Please note guests of Wine Lands must be 21+ to enter.*

I needed a pick me up at 10 am, and no ordinary flavor would do. I found this kick azz samosa on the Polo field. Spicy, savory, sweet, with a nice bitter/sour bite from accompanying chutney. Too excellent... Wow.

Literally the most delicious coffee I have ever had in my entire life, and I am a coffee person. The people were really cool at the booth, they had really crazy pouring methods, and the young woman had the amount of cream and sugar to perfect my coffee down pat. I am going to look for Philz next time I'm in SF.

I've been to Kara's in the past when visiting SF before I went wheat free, and I always loved them. Not knowing that they had a gluten free option, I saw the van at the festival and was really upset! Later on that day, my mom took my little sister to Kara's shop and texted me saying she got a gluten free cupcake (without knowing I had seen the van!)... So I SPRINTED to the van, asked if they had any, and was then handed the most decadent cupcake I have ever had in my life. It. Was. Amazing. Thanks, Kara and Outside Lands! I had one every day I was here!

The most highly anticipated item of Outside Lands was a huge letdown. There simply wasn't enough cheese in the grilled cheese sandwich. The bread was very good, perfectly grilled but chewy, but there was too much of it. The bacon was nice and thick. The tomatoes were firm and hard to chew. At least the soup was excellent, with good tomato flavor, and not boiling hot, so you could wash down all that bread.

Flying Saucer from Straw's Carnival Fair booth in Choco Lands. Peanut butter mousse, chocolate fudge crust, candied bacon, caramel, powdered sugar. The first bite was good, but after that chewing just seemed like a chore. Also there seemed to be some unadvertised jalapeno spice in it.
