Mario Batali's Seattle Favorites

  • Spot-it-large

    Beer-battered shellfish @ Jack's Fish Spot

    1514 Pike Place Seattle, WA

Pike Place Market provides an unlimited supply of delciousness, and this is some of the best there is. The same fresh local fish available in the counter is served at the raw bar. But the beer-battered shellfish takes the cake.

  • Spot-it-large

Foie gras mousse parfait, toasted brioche, spiced crème @ Rover's Restaurant

2808 E Madison St Seattle, WA

The chef in the hat is a master of classic French food. This dish is rich yet delicate, just as foie gras should be.

  • Spot-it-large

Chicken en mole @ La Carta De Oaxaca

5431 Ballard Ave NW Seattle, WA

I’m a sucker for Mexican and this is the best joint in town. Mole is out of this world.

  • Thumb_170

Gnocchi @ Salumi Artisan Cured Meats

    309 3rd Ave S Seattle, WA

On Tuesdays, my mom makes her signature gnocchi in the front window of the shop. There’s little else that so brings me back to my childhood.

  • Thumb_170

Prosciutto, fig and goat cheese sandwich @ Salumi Artisan Cured Meats

    309 3rd Ave S Seattle, WA

Salumi makes porchetta and meatball sandwiches year-round, but this combination only available over the summer is spectacular. Get it before it’s gone!!

  • Spot-it-large

    TAJARIN @ Spinasse

    1531 14th Avenue Seattle, WA

This pasta all’uovo, a Piemontese specialty, is simply dressed with butter and sage. It’s as close to Piemonte as you can get on the West Coast.

  • Spot-it-large

    Palace Burger @ Palace Kitchen

    2030 5th Avenue Seattle, WA

There’s a cult surrounding this burger, and for good reason, but the fries don’t get their due. Tom Douglas has almost cornered the restaurant market in Seattle and this is one of his masterpieces.

  • Spot-it-large

Oyster Platter @ The Walrus And The Carpenter

If there’s one city for a seafood binge, it’s Seattle, and Walrus and the Carpenter has one of the best raw bars in town. An oyster in the summer is simply the sea’s gift to man.
