The Schmitter at mcnally's tavern in Philadelphia , pa

Seriously, what's not to love about shredded beef, salami, tomatoes, friend onions, cheese AND a secret sauce. (We have a theory on that, btw -- but you decide.)

Red Velvet Cupcakes at Cake in Philadelphia, PA

Try 'em all (but we're particularly fond of the red velvet, lemon curd and carrot cake varieties).

10-course Chef's Table at Mica in Chestnut Hill, PA

Chef Chip Roman's lastest venture with "fresh, local ingredients and assertive flavors." The menu isn't cheap, but according to Inky food critic Craig LaBan, could potentially become one of the best in the region! Well done, Chef!

Pizza at Chestnut7 in Philadelphia, PA

Try any of the pizzas at this upscale-leaning (but still affordable) American pub that opened in early-August. True Hillers know the name comes from the area’s old telephone exchange, CH7.

  • Roasted Vegetable Grinder at Trolley Car Diner & Deli in Philadelphia, PA

You expect good home-style cooking at a silver diner, and they do it up right (butter 'n all), but the Trolley Car also has an amazing variety of vegetarian dishes. Their kids menu also won Best of Philly last year.

  • Chicken Salad Sandwich at Chestnut Grill and Sidewalk Cafe in Philadelphia, PA

Try it with some mighty tasty fries. Actually, add the fries to anything you order. But no matter what, ask for one of the coveted outdoor tables. They are worth any wait!

  • Crab Cakes at Cafette in Philadelphia, PA

Maryland-style crab cakes but served with a lemon-horseradish aioli. The chef's an artist -- literally, he's an artist -- and there's an adorable outdoor sculpture garden.

Julienned beef with shredded celery and carrots in a brandy-infused Hoisin sauce. Need we say more?

  • Kenzinger Fishtown and Chips at Campbell's Place in Philadelphia , pa

Kenzinger beer-battered tilapia, sweet pea mash and fries. Hello, guv'ner. (Another favorite is the bourbon pork.)
