  • Truffle Oil & Hickory Smoked Bacon Pizza at Gruppo Pizza in New York, NY

Hidden East Village gem for thin-crust lovers. We ordered the hickory smoked bacon, but we hear the Homemade Chicken Chipotle is incredible too.

No, not named after the drink, this 'Old Fashioned' means crushed tomato, homemade fresh mozzarella and parmesan cheese.

Soppressata Piccante Pie at Motorino East Village in New York, NY

You can’t go wrong here. We definitely recommend the Margherita, the Soppressata Piccante or the Colatura di Alici. Start with the Warm Spicy Octopus & Potato.

  • Porcini Mushroom Pizza at Di Fara Pizzeria in Brooklyn, NY

Dominick is a true pizza master and takes his time to get it right. Be patient and don't be picky. You will be back. Cash only.

  • Bicolore Pizza at Mezzaluna Restaurants

Bicolore is half margherita, half gorgonzola, and all delicious. Mezzaluna is the perfect low-key Italian dinner on the Upper East Side. You can’t go wrong with any of the brick oven pizzas; however our recommendation is the spicy black linguine with shrimp.

  • Tartufo Pizza at Fornino in Brooklyn, NY

Anything from the 'Third Generation' menu is good, but the Tartufo's black winter truffles, fontina, ricotta, mozzarella and olive oil is the one to order.

  • Danny’s Delight Pizza at Lazzara's Pizza

Potatoes on a pizza? Lazzara's knows how. Danny's Delight means sautéed onions and red potatoes, but add sundried tomatoes if you're feeling adventurous.

  • Citterio Pancetta Pizza at Lombardi's Pizza in New York, NY

Wood oven pizza in Little Italy doesn't get much better than this. Meat lovers will tell you the pepperoni pie is the one to get, but we loved the Citterio Pancetta topping.

  • Ricotta, Buffalo Mozzarella, Basil, Garlic and Hot Peppers Pizza at franny's in Brooklyn, NY

Top Chef's Ashley Merriman thinks this is the best pizza in Brooklyn. We don't disagree, but make sure you leave room for one of their incredible desserts.

  • Salame Piccante Pizza at Lil' Frankies Pizza in NY, NY

Vine ripe tomatoes, mozzarella & spicy salami. We've heard that adding black olives makes this even more delicious, but we prefer it as intended.

  • Capellacio Pizza at Donatella's in New York, NY

Neapolitan pizza at its very finest. The capellacio is charred and marinated oyster mushrooms, mozzarella, pecorino, and basil.

  • Caramelized Onions & Button Mushrooms Slice at Vezzo Thin Crust Pizza in New York, NY

A little on the crispy side, but definitely get a couple of their incredible toppings to balance things out. They even do a Nine-Grain Organic Crust if you request it.

Slow service, but well worth it for one of the best calzones in the city. Call ahead and plan on picking up if you're in a hurry.

Artichoke and Spinach Slice at Artichoke Basilles Pizza in New York, NY

So much better than the regular margherita slice. Piping hot, large and very messy, one slice is all you'll need.
