Freshly baked raisin scone with Empress cream and strawberry jam, grande marnier white chocolate cake, chocolate tea cup with matcha cream (not for everyone), (perfected) vanilla bean shortbread, salted caramel coffee delice and lemon curd tartlet (with the tartness I like). All those small bites added up; I actually couldn't finish and had to take some with me. It was a lovely experience.
The meal included salmon pinwheels with dill cream cheese, roasted bone-in ham tarragon dijonaisse, free-range egg salad croissant, cucumber and ginger mascarpone on butter brioche and Moroccan-spiced chicken on marbled rye (my fav)
Created especially for the Empress with tea from Assam, Ceylon, Kenya. South India and China. It's a mild black tea for the afternoon. To make a proper cup tea, the milk is poured into the cup first.
When I go to smallish restaurants, I read the menu, check out who is dining there and what they're eating, and finally the owners. This sandwich is a perfect example. The deli serves traditional Canadian breakfast and lunch sandwiches but the owners/chefs are Vietnamese. I noticed this Vietnamese sandwich amongst all the standard turkey, salami, etc. It was so good, I ended up eating three over the course of the week. This one with chicken was my fav at $6 Canadian.
