Speaking of Smallman Street, have you ever tried the Filet Mignon sandwich at Smallman Street Deli? We're planning to go there soon so my husband may try it. It. Is. Good.
You can't claim to have experienced Pittsburgh until you've had this sandwich! French fries, cole slaw and italian meats make this a classic miners' meal.
Three selections of cheese, seasonal fruit, house-made fig cake & baguette. The waiter recommended three types of cheese from soft to firm, including a goat cheese, a cow cheese, and a sheep cheese :) . The dish had some thinly sliced pear, a fig compote, a fig cake, and a basket of sliced baguette. The cheeses were really, really good!

Oh! So sorry about that! Grabbed the wrong picture. It's updated now! I really enjoyed this dish -- it was one of the best things I tasted while visiting San Francisco!

The service was also genuinely helpful -- everyone was friendly and checked in on us often, and I was really glad we went with the waiter's recommendations, they were superb!

A fan of this restaurant....loved the vibe and the food, even though we had to sit on a small couch since we had no reservations...

I had such a great time when I visited SF this past Thanksgiving. Loved foodspotting - added an new element of fun to our outings. Need to get this going in Pittsburgh but haven't been into the City to eat since Christmas.

Thank you! I guess I need to drink more water on days I eat out so well. :)
Not your basic ham and cheese sandwich! A melted gruyere and thinly sliced ham on slightly toasted bread, covered with bechamel sauce and, with apologies to the chef, a scrambled instead of fried egg. The somewhat hotly spiced salad greens and marinated onions on the side enhanced the whole culinary experience beyond my expectations.
Great accompaniment for the Gewürztraminer. A warm flavorful cream cheese augmented by some roasted greens and spread on thin toast was a promising beginning for our brunch!
