A fresh one and a deep-fried one. They were good, except the grease dripping off the deep-fried one had nowhere to go, so it ended up on the fresh one :(
Yum! The natural sweetness (of the onion and tomatoes?) is what I get a craving for. They let me order Ebi Fry (panko-breaded prawn) on the side at $2 each.
The wide-shaved bonito flakes were a bit overwhelming, but everything else (garlic, bacon, mushroom, cabbage) was harmonious. Almost had a "dashi" flavour without the soup.
with Beef Brisket and Beef Ball. I would have liked it a bit more sour with a bit more cilantro. The basil was nicely young = not too tough to eat! Good, but I like the Pho Ga (chicken) soup better.
They kept the cheese curds and changed the gravy. It does have a whiff of butter chicken-ishness, but I don't think they'll be able to fool many people in Vancouver. The chicken is shredded, which, I guess works better as a condiment.
Cheese Baked White Fish with Artichoke Sauce. I'm not sure what I'm recognizing as Japanese plum (ume) flavour, but it's definitely good. Maybe lemon plus something? A steal for $6.99.
