Assorted Cornmeal Empanadas at Arabica in Caracas, Miranda

In Venezuela, local empanadas are made with cornmeal and fried at high temperatures. The result is oh-so-crispy. Delicious! Here you can see Empanadas de "Pabellón" and de "Queso". The Pabellón one is filled with the main elements of our national dish (shredded beef, black beans and fried sweet plantain) and the Queso one is filled with fresh white cheese.
