Kouign Amann

These are French pastry from the Brittany region in France (a peninsula jutting out from France, facing the British isles) literally meaning "butter bread/pastry." Inside, they're light and layered, and outside a good portion (mainly the bottom) is covered in a hard, crunchy, caramelised layer of sugared butter.
