Mango and jerk sauces, plantains and dirty rice & beans. This was just okay. I was dying to try it after I saw Michael Symon raving about this in The Best Thing I Ever Ate (Fried Chicken). I was hoping for bold taste, but instead the flavor of coconut was rather faint and the meat was overcooked and dry. The dirty rice, however, was excellent and full of savory flavor!

Scott Lunceford Ha! I saw the same episode and was curious as well. (Almost tried the skinless fried chicken when I was in NYC.) If I make the trek that far west, maybe I'll just stop in for the rice!
George Sand ooh, yes the skinless fried chicken looked great too! I feel a NYC food trip is in order :)
skytop Michael Symon sure looked like he was enjoying it on the show. Guess you need lots of coconut milk in the marinade and lots of coconut in the batter to get the flavor to shine through.
George Sand Yes, his enjoyment of it is what prompted me to go. I think I'll give it another try :) -
Coconut-battered fried chicken with dirty rice and beans and fried plantains. Served with mango and spicy jerk sauces. Absolutely delicious.
