A Teochew specialty, broken rice soup, eaten by millions. Albert Centre is a busy cross section of S'pore and has many Chinese specialties on offer. I choose this destination to start my day with this 'poor man's rich meal' breakfast.
The stall prepared these to order, one at a time. My selection: sliced raw fish added to a steaming hot bowl of broken rice for 'in bowl cooking', then topped with a generous helping of chopped scallion, fried garlic and sided with a 'chinese style donut fritter' which I prefer to dip in the soup. Great and satisfying. Then was off to nearby Sim Lim square to acquire my new camera!
