I believe we should have ordered Nasi Bungkus, a similar dish wrapped in banana leaf to retain moisture.

An amazing item not seen on the menu but made by the staff. Considered a national dish of Malaysia, this dish consists of dried anchovies, hot spicy sambal sauce, a boiled egg, and sliced cucumbers over rice. Have never had anything like it in the US, but loved it!
