So what do you do after a nice, big brunch at Alice’s Tea Cup, a delicious lunch at Burger Joint and a ridulous Cookie snack at Levain Bakery? You run to NYSC and signup for a lifetime membership hoping to feel better about yourself? Nope. You take that belt down one more notch and head down (actually 60 blocks down.) to Kin Shop for some Roasted Duck Breast.
Walking there Jason told me something I thought was hilarious: “You don’t understand Nico! This thing is gonna blow your mind!”. So we walked, and walked, and Amy ran a little bit like she does sometimes, and after a few stops on the way we made it to the beautiful looking Kin Shop where I felt slightly under-dressed but was warmly welcomed. We sat at the bar and ordered Cocktails and food. Some of that food being, of course, the Roasted duck.
So basically what you do is tear a big piece of deliciously moist roti bread, put a piece of perfectly roasted duck on it, drop a few leaves of cilantro and mint and shower the whole thing with the delicious, thick spicy sauce. Pick up your now heavy duck roll and take a nice, generous bite into it. Close your eyes. Chew. Chew some more. BOOM! Your mind has just been blown!
All jokes aside, this was truly incredible. Rich and flavourful. Intense combiantion of textures and flavours. You’ve got the bold duck taste balanced by the freshness of the mint & the cilantro, wrapped in what I’m really tempted to call the best bread ever. It really is an experience and if you’re into duck meat and it will most certainly rock your world as hard as it rocked mine.
