Assorted tapas @ PUB LA OCA
      Want Tried Loved

Assorted tapas at PUB LA OCA in Ávila, Spain

      PUB LA OCA
C/ RAFAELA DE ANTONIO, 8 Ávila Spain

Many people think tapas are for sharing and they are not. We were 4, and we got 4 of the same, one for each. This tapa was amazing, not 1 but three that counted as one. Spicy fries, boneless chicken wings and smoked trout open face sandwich.

heart César loved & spotted this almost 2 years ago.

That is very interesting! You're right, I went with a group to Cascal (http://www.cascalrestaurant.com/) last week, and we ordered many dishes that we passed around the table for sharing.

Do you know which is the problem! That 'tapas' sell, they are cool, and everybody wants to have tapas and outside Spain you get anything as a tapa. But small plates for sharing are not, I will try to find a link I sent Em M long time ago were explained where the word comes from and you will see why that are not for sharing.

I don't know if this text says it, but 'tapa' in Spanish means 'cover' and you will find out why, go to "The History" link: http://www.arrakis.es/~jols/tapas/indexin.html

Very very interesting, César, thank you for the link! I love reading food history. :) I think we probably use the word "tapas" a little too loosely because, as you say, it's trendy.

You're welcome. I know, but if that's what they tell you why not believing it? :) And for the same reason that's why, when I go to 'an exotic restaurant' (lets call it that way) I like to talk with the owners and ask for their real cuisine. The first day I order what they have, of course, but then I make a reservation for another day when I order that 'real menu'.

@ SweetBanana, you know the game I play with Loly about sharing or not, but this is no game :) You can't share a tapa because is too small for sharing, this wasn't a normal tapa :) A tapa usually is bite-size of cheese, ham, croquette or whatever. But of course I share what they serve you as a tapa XD I really love sharing food, but please, DON'T TELL LOLY!!! /// @ ZanyLibra, thanks!
