Dim Sum restaurants rarely do xlb very well and it held true this time too.

Not bad. Fairly thin skin and lots of soup broth. Still waiting for Din Tai Fung in the Bay Area though.

Audrey @ Joan - It wasn't THAT bad. Trust me, I've had far worst!

Randy F. @Joan B at least you are in SoCal and have options there! I've had much worse too!

Joan B @Audrey: but look at the standard I'm left with. That'a supposed to be THE place to get your dumplings and the best we have is "it wasn't bad!". Really? How about "awesome", fantatic! I'll go to SF and have the best dumplings for sure! Audrey and Randy, you both will lead me to the right place. ;-)

A tad thick on the top end to close off the dumpling, but great amount of broth inside.

Very fresh and nice amount of soup inside. The skin was a tad thick, but truly a minor complaint for a great find and bargain. ($4.95 for 6)

Another preparation that uses tin foil holders to prevent dumpling skin breakage....it's almost like cheating. That being said, the skin is fairly thin and there is some soup broth though not much. Can't compare to any top places.

Randy F. I hate it when orders end up disappointing. Maybe you should post it so others learn or even the restaurant learns too. Sometimes they don't know.

Lil Haha yeh that's what I'd do. I'd post on it and write a comment on how it sucked to vent my annoyance XD

Lots of positives for this dish: thin skin, lots of soup. Wish the meat quality was better though.

...and a warm soup broth is the other hallmark of an excellent xiao long bao. Nice soup quantity here too. Just very pricey though.

Ultra thin skin is one of the hallmarks of good xiao long bao. Din Tai Fung is most famous for this...

One of the best xiao long bao I've had in the Bay Area, but a true splurge at $12/order. And that's for regular xiao long bao, not crab meat filled.
