Tasting largely of salted butter and caramelized sugar, this is my kind of pastry. It's slightly sticky, and has an intriguing texture, more coarse than a croissant and arranged in a flaky, fluted pattern. Salty enough to get your mouth watering a bit. Chocolate was a great addition.

    Spotted May 16, 2011
I'm not normally one for crème brûlée, but this really stood out. Instead of the dense, heavy affair it can be, this one was simple and delicate. The custard didn't have a pronounced cooked-egg flavor, trading it for a simpler one of lightly-cooked sweet cream. The texture bordered on solid and liquid, almost like a thick milk, but not viscous. It held its shape when scooped, but barely. Terrific.

Very light and puffy! They are flavored, lightly, with some sort of fruit---I'm betting apricot or apple, but i can't be sure. Lightly sweet, plus a bit of savory from the nicely browned fried dough, so they're quite habit-forming.

  • Sam's Sundae @ Bi-Rite Creamery
    Spotted December 05, 2010
Chocolate ice cream, whipped cream, bergamot olive oil, Maldon sea salt. A very challenging sundae, mainly because of the olive oil. The bergamot flavor combined with the fruity olive oil brought out the dark, bitter side of the bergamot, which went well with the darker chocolate flavor in the ice cream.

Well, it's bread pudding! I don't have too much to say other than it's dense and delicious and you should eat it.

  • Pumpkin Bread Pudding @ Gregoire

Oh my gosh. Very dense, not a single air pocket in there! A continuous, tender, rich bread pudding awaits beyond a crunchy-browned top, covered in a caramel-possibly-maple sauce. The texture was impeccable, like the most moist bread you've ever had, and it was just sweet and starchy enough. Baked in a paper container, strangely.

  • chocolate peanut butter malt @ Pearl's Phat Burgers
    Spotted October 05, 2010
Probably the best C-PB malt I've had. Maybe even the best of any malt I've ever had! I have a bit of a beef (a small one) with shakes that are essentially a mass of ice cream floating in melted-ice-cream-milk, but this one was completely homogenous and thick. Obviously real PB too. Pricey, but worth every single cent. I warn you, it's filling.

  • Coconut Flan @ Inka Mamas
    Spotted July 18, 2010
Best flan I've ever had! The caramel at the top tastes like caramelized sugar, with just enough bitterness but not so much that it tastes burnt. The custard is rich and firm, and the coconut is a nice touch.

This isn't the the usual Jello-pudding pie. It's a hearty, thick banana custard with a chocolate crust. excellent.

Hey, there's real peanut butter in here! A no-frills, excellent malt with a uniform consistency and was neither too thick nor too runny. The peanut butter covered up the flavor of the malted milk a bit.
