meei / Carrot Cake

they make some mean-as carrot cake too. one of the best - texturally - carrot cakes i've had in a cafe, bar none. so crumbly.

the infamous, for it's ingenious cream cheese stuffing (as opposed to the traditional topping). was quite underwhelmed. the cake itself wasn't spectacular. i think of carrot cakes as being chunky, textured and wholesome, but this one was too smooth and thick a batter (and not chunky as it should've been). cream cheese wasn't amazing either - not very cream cheese-like at all, the flavour was bordering on being that of a sugary icing.

bah. not impressed.

let's just say i wouldn't be ordering this again.

texture curiously banana bread-like. not bad, but not the best around. icing was the sugary kind - i like my carrot cakes with cream cheese icing. waitress charged me $5.00 on my eftpos when she said it was $4.50 about 5 seconds before. naughty naughty.

a little starchy and flavourless. i think they tried, tho, cause they even put in the effort to mix in lemon rind into the icing.

fascinating how they served it with little jug of milk. a good save, too; the dry cake would've been very difficult to finish if not moistened by the milk

'sokay. pumpkin and chocolate cake that you see in the background was better, though.

one of the rare carrot cakes in which you can actually feel the carrot shavings; also moist and bursting with nuts and raisins
