one of the better vegan sammie-burger things i've had as far as cabinet sammies are concerned.

not bad at all - hearty ham and buttery pastry. what's not to like?

the next iconic aucklander institution after the white lady. the shawarma bun is beyond - fluffy yet crisp on the outside, but the beef is pretty whatever. not as juicy as it could be.

behold; la cigale now offers cooked breakfasts! i'll admit, i was slightly underwhelmed when i was served the above, for i have been too spoiled by brioches and sourdoughs. the limp, wheaty bread works here though. it allows the ham and sweet, sweet cheese to shine. cheese in the middle, cheese on the top, and an over-easy to crown. egg was perfectly done - whites were silky smooth and yolk remained beautifully runny, even after having to sit around for close to half an hour (i like saving the best for last). classic. they don't bother do any more than is required of them, but thank god they do what they do beautifully.

with crackling (tho not very much of it at all) and cider-braised onions. most of the table perferred the beef to this. i thought they were both competent, though the meat in this might've been less tender than bellies usually are.

in turkish bap, with horseradish and provolone. meat quite well cooked and spiced, but the dish really is nothing special.

with beetroot relish and mustard seeds. bread a little too thick for the amount of filling. doesn't look so, but you'll feel what i mean when you dig into it yourself. overall a pretty decent deal.

i had order envy when my friend's order of this dish arrived. i didn't quite get a taste of it, but she seemed to enjoy it well enough.

okay, i suppose. i don't like my lamb chewy.

a very well-executed version - crisp shells and very crumbly innards. their tahini dip is insane with its fluid tanginess and the pickled gherkin and beetroot slices add nice dimension to.
